Specialty Clinic with West Ham United Academy Scout
On Sunday, September 17, 2016, select players from VIS Academy’s Elite Clinic were invited to participate in an exclusive Specialty Clinic with West Ham United Academy scout, Mike Leigh.
Mike is a UEFA “A” licensed coach and represents West Ham United as a talent scout in Oceania, Asia and North America.
Mike moved from his home in London, England, to New Zealand where he coached the New Zealand Under 17 National Team that toured the USA and England in 1992. Since then, Mike has been coaching and directing soccer camps in both Australia and the USA for more than 17 years.
Valley Isle Soccer Academy’s Elite Clinic is comprised of some of Maui’s most competitive youth players, ranging in age from 13 to 17. Among them is 13 year old Tommy Musto who traveled to London, England, earlier this year to train with West Ham United Academy. Musto was one of several Hawaii players identified and selected to travel to London from the 2015 GIS International ID Camp hosted by VIS Academy and featuring West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Specialty Clinics are comprised of players who train consistently with Valley Isle Soccer Academy and are designed to inspire and motivate players by bringing in high-level professional and collegiate guest coaches. Given Hawaii’s geographical remoteness to the mainland and the rest of the world, VIS Academy strives to make professional coaching more accessible to Hawaii’s players.
